                  Honey for Nothing and Your Chicks for Free

                                       7-8 February 2012

Based on our successful ‘Freebies’ course, this training will focus on finding support, money and materials for environmental projects. You will find out what is available free, what you can match-fund (including your time as a volunteer), how you can get local and national companies to help with materials and business skills. You will go away inspired!

This course will;
• Provide information on how to get things for free, to enable groups to take projects forward with little financial outlay
• To consider sustaining projects without grant funding

Participants will be able to demonstrate;
• Where and how to look for freebies
• How to utilise on line resources
• How to approach businesses and other stakeholders
• How their time can be valued to attract resources from others
• Ideas for sustaining for their project


                    Setting Up a Social Enterprise

                                       15-16 February 2012

With a lot of communities looking to become self sufficient, social enterprises are becoming more and more popular. On this course you will learn the basics in setting up your own social enterprise, and will go away with a clear action plan for your project.

This course will;
• Provide participants with a framework and skills to develop their basic idea into a plan to set up a Social Enterprise within their own communities.

By the end of the course participants will be able to;
• Understand the concept of a Social Enterprise
• Be aware and have an understanding of a variety of legal business structures
• Create and present a vision of a Social Enterprise which would form part of a Business Plan
• Understand and be able to use the tools of;-
                 Marketing — researching and selling
                 Re-sourcing
                 Project planning and management
• Have a basic action plan/project
• Risk assess each stage of development

Thanks to generous funding from the Tudor Trust we can offer these courses for only £50 for the first community volunteer booking on and £20 for every additional community volunteer booking from the same organisation. This price not only includes the training but also all meals and refreshments during your stay and one night’s accommodation in one of our en-suite bedrooms at Trafford Hall.

There is a small grant fund attached to this programme so after completing the course you will have the opportunity of applying for a grant of up to £500 to help your community project progress.
